Biggest Lesson so Far

Biggest Lesson so Far

I just finished writing the most important lesson so far during my time here at SRU.  On tuesday November 25th I will be teaching parachute games at Shenango Elementary School to a gout of first graders.  They are a great class of kids but I can not help but be nervous.  Dr. Miller will be coming out to our field site that day to assess my teaching abilities.  I am nervous for the lesson but I can not help but feel prepared.  My time at Sru has helped me get ready for this segment of my life. I know I have the skills to accomplish this.  I will be anxiously and excitedly waiting for Tuesday to get the chance to showcase what I have learned during my time in college.

  1. I remember playing parachute games in Physical Education class, they were always some of the most fun games we played. You will be fine and do great, just remember everything SRU has taught you so far. New challenges are nerve wracking at first, but once you have your feet set and are in the moment, the nerves will go away. Just remember, the kids do not know much on the topic. What they are interested in is having fun and learning something new. You know more about the topic at hand than anyone else in the classroom. Show them you are trying and have done everything you can to prepare for this lesson and you will be golden! Best of luck, Nate!

  2. Nate,
I feel where you are coming from! Tomorrow, Dr. Bian will be coming to view my lesson at Moniteau Elementary. I feel the same way because I am nervous, as most of us will be, but it will be my second visit and the first one taight me to just pretend she isn't there. Like you mentioned, I feel very confident with my skills i've aquired here believe I will teach a good lesson. Also, it helps that I have already taught this lesson on Thursday. Hope everything went well!
